WHAT IS A LIFE GROUP?

Life Groups are a fellowship of 6 to 12 people who gather outside of the church building to study God’s Word, pray, serve and share their faith journeys with others.  The purpose of a Life Group at Holy Cross is to LIVE in Biblical community with fellow believers, GROW and MATURE in our faith by building authentic relationships with others and CARING for people both inside and outside of God’s church.

We encourage Holy Cross Life Groups to meet twice-monthly from September through May.  Multiplication of Life Groups takes place two years after the group begins.  And confidentiality is an essential part of each Life Group.  Meaning: “What is said in the group stays in the group.”

WHY JOIN A LIFE GROUP?

God did not make us to be alone!  He wants to us to be in relationships with others that are grounded in faith and which strengthen our connection to Him.  Many of us are blessed and have those relationships in our lives already, but there are many who do not.  That is why we need Life Groups!  By sharing our lives and our faith with others, we are doing the very thing God called us to do in Matthew 22:36-40, namely: Love Him and Love our Neighbor.

5 CORE VALUES OF HOLY CROSS LIFE GROUPS:

Worship: Regular worship, personal and group prayer.

Word: Study and application of God’s Word in our lives.

Fellowship: Connecting relationally by meeting regularly.

Service: Participate in at least one monthly or bi-monthly service project, which is reflective of Christ.

Witness: Pray for the lost, share our faith with others both inside and outside of the church, and practice multiplication of our groups.

THE EARLY CHURCH AND LIFE GROUPS:

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  Everyone was filled with awe and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.  All of the believers were together and had everything in common.  Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.  Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.  They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.  And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”  Acts 2:42-47
