High School Discipleship

As high schoolers grow and mature, they must understand that their faith should do that as well. The goal of high school youth ministry is for each youth to grow in their faith through their heads, hearts, and habits as an individual and as a member of the whole church community.

High School Youth Calendar

High school youth are consistently challenged to live and act in certain ways to fit the mold of others. Youth Ministry will help them see God’s constant Truth and foundation that they can carry through all parts of their lives.

Praising God at NYG 2022

Identity and belonging can be difficult things for teenagers to find and hold onto. Youth will know they are foremost children of God and He holds them through joys and sorrows that come in teen years.

High school youth will practice Christian habits of worship, grow, and serve. They will see Christ’s gifts for them in worship. They will continue to grow in faith in Bible studies, Bible reading, and prayers. They will find ways to use their talents to serve and love others.

Worship: Youth will see worship as the high point of the Christian faith where we receive God’s love through hearing His Word, receiving the Lord’s Supper, and praying to Him.

Grow: Youth will build each other up and challenge each other to become mature, thoughtful Christian young adults who see Christ’s redemptive work in all parts of their lives.

Serve: Motivated by Christ’s forgiving love, youth will see how they can personally provide, support, and care for others.

Serving at Crossroads Mission

To achieve these Head, Heart, Habit goals for our youth, there are four important factors in instruction to help them as they go through their high school years.

ENGAGED ADULTS

Engaged Adults

Adults who take time to listen to, have fun with, and guide teenagers help to make faith more substantial. Youth will be able to see examples of faith being lived out in many ways. Trusted adults make a lasting connection to the church for teens.

YOUTH GROUP NIGHTS

Youth Group

At Holy Cross, our high school youth meet each Wednesday night at 7:15pm at the Discipleship House. Busy schedules and big responsibilities can add up pretty quickly as a teenager, so a place where youth can have fun with others, continue to build their faith, and support one another gives a foundation they can turn to.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteer

Faith is always accompanied with actions, and it is important for youth to know and especially see that God works through them to show people His love and mercy. That is why Holy Cross youth will promote and plan ways for teens to serve others at Holy Cross, in Kearney, and wherever God brings us.

LEADERSHIP ROLES

Leadership

Knowing that High School Youth is a step in the continuous growth of each individual, the future is always in mind for the youth. So, we work to promote the skills and interests of each person. We look for ways youth can positive role models for others as well as make an impact on the Holy Cross community.

Every three years, The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod hosts the LCMS Youth Gathering for High Schoolers. In July of 2025, it will be in New Orleans, LA. We will gather a group, we will do Bible studies, fundraisers, and activities as we prepare for the trip. Check out more about the LCMS Youth Gathering at www.lcmsgathering.com.
