You may have noticed that Vicar Matthew was not present at the Sunday worship services. Normally, he assists the pastors in worship; however, this past Sunday he preached at St. John’s in Wilcox. Like many congregations in our synod, Wilcox has had a pastoral vacancy for a few years. As they search for their next pastor, Pastor Kenton Birtell of Mount Calvary in Holdredge has been serving as their vacancy pastor.
Pastor Tim’s sermon made me think about our church’s inactive list. This is a list of members who have not recently worshipped. Periodically, pastors and elders will reach out to missing members by letter, email, or phone call.
