You may have noticed that Vicar Matthew was not present at the Sunday worship services. Normally, he assists the pastors in worship; however, this past Sunday he preached at St. John’s in Wilcox. Like many congregations in our synod, Wilcox has had a pastoral vacancy for a...
Seven or Eight Thoughts about Pride Month Pride month is here. It’s a somewhat unavoidable American ritual now, painted brightly on the logos of companies and cable networks. What should the church’s response be? Some pastors and churches never stop talking about sexual ethics. Other churches never...
Let’s briefly think about how God’s love works in our lives, our community, and beyond. I like to think about God’s love as “down, up, in, out” (this sounds like the moves to a dance you might do at a wedding). Let's look at each.

The Centrality of Grace: A Meditation on Being Rooted in the Gospel This past Sunday we launched our “Marks of Maturity” sermon series. This first sermon, “Rooted in the Gospel,” sets the tone for all the other sermons that follow. If you were out of town, you...
